AGENDA ITEM 8.3 IMPLICATIONS OF ADOPTION OF CEC’S LOCAL PLAN FOR PICKMERE
1. REPORT
1.1 Members will recall that the reason given by CEC for not proceeding with further formal action
to bring to an end the unauthorised, and in fact unlawful, use of land at Spinks Lane as a site for
travellers was that CEC had no other potential sites which might be able to accommodate the
occupiers of the Spinks Lane land if they were removed. The adoption of CEC’s local plan in full,
among other things, removes this argument.
1.2 As a result it would now be appropriate for your Council to write to CEC to point this out and to
request CEC’s confirmation that action will now recommence to bring to an end the unlawful
use of the Spinks Lane land.
2. RECOMMENDATION
2.1 That a communication be sent to CEC requesting the recommencement of action to bring to an
end the unlawful use of the land at Spinks Lane for residential purposes.
