AGENDA ITEM 9.2 UPDATE – REPLACEMENT OF CLERK AND RESPONSIBLE FINANCIAL OFFICER
1.1 The vacant Clerk’s position has been re-advertised on the Council’s website, the noticeboards, and also in CHALC’s weekly bulletin and website, but no applications have been submitted beyond the two that responded to the original advertisement.
1.2 Council’s instructions are therefore required as to how to proceed.
1.3 In the interim, your Clerk has terminated his position as at 28 February 2023, but has agreed to continue for the present as Acting Clerk and RFO, working on the basis of his normal hourly rate, but, importantly, reducing his role so that only very restricted and essential Council functions are carried out, including servicing this one Council meeting and seeking to maintain the Council’s financial functions. This function will continue only until a new Clerk is appointed, or until the annual accounts for 2022-23 are prepared after the end of March, whichever is the earlier.
2.1 That the report be noted and agreed and Council decide how to proceed in relation to the appointment of a new Clerk.
