REPORT TO PICKMERE PARISH COUNCIL

AGENDA ITEM 9.5 RECOMMENCEMENT OF USE AND HIRE OF VILLAGE HALL
1.1 As members are aware, the Hall has been out of use to hirers since the first Covid lockdown
over a year ago. Recent relaxations of rules and guidance by Government now allow for the
recommencement of hire, and at your Council’s previous meeting you decided that this could
start on 1st September.
1.2 Three groups have expressed the wish to use the hall – the Mid-Cheshire Art Group, Pickmere
and District WI, and a new table tennis group.
1.3 Accordingly, revised hire documents have been prepared and have been or will be issued to
these groups. A copy of these documents is attached to this report for information or comment.
It will be noted that significant reliance is to be placed on the groups themselves to comply with
Government advice as to the precautions against infection.
1.4 The Hall cleaner will now recommence cleaning the hall on a weekly basis – since the lockdown
the hall has been cleaned monthly. More frequent cleaning will obviously impact on council
expenditure but would be possible if considered necessary.
1.5 It should also be noted that two of the three groups mentioned above previously paid for more
meeting sessions than they were able to take when the lockdown happened. One of the groups
is happy to carry on and use up those paid-for sessions (4 in number), but the other wishes the
‘over-payment’ to be refunded and will start again paying for future sessions. Your Clerk will
