REPORT TO PICKMERE PARISH COUNCIL

2nd November 2021

AGENDA ITEM 9.6            POSSIBLE PREPARATION OF COMMUNITY RESILIENCE PLAN

1          REPORT

1.1       CEC, a member of the Joint Cheshire Emergency Planning Team, have contacted the Parish Council as part of an initiative to encourage small councils to prepare a Community Resilience Plan.  The documents supplied with the communication are appended to this report.  The CEC communication states:

Cheshire East is a beautiful place to live but like everywhere, there are many risks such as adverse weather, floods and major transport links. Local emergency responders will always have to prioritise those in greatest need during an emergency, especially where life is in danger. During these times, having a community resilience plan will help your community to become prepared, respond and recover more effectively should an emergency or disaster occur.

1.2       It goes on:

I am already in discussions with some councils across Cheshire East in order to assist while creating or updating their emergency plan and would like to extend this offer of help to everyone across the patch. I will guide you with what information you may wish to include and be available to answer any questions you may have along the way to make this task less daunting.

1.3       At this stage, this communication and attached documents are presented for information purposes, conscious that Council is currently heavily occupied with the Neighbourhood Plan and Play Area projects.  However, members are requested to review the documents in broad terms and come to a view as to whether moves toward the preparation of such a plan should be seriously considered in the near future.

  1. RECOMMENDATION

2.1       That Council considers the documents and comment accordingly.
