AGENDA ITEM 9.6 HS2B – DEPOSIT OF BILL – UPDATE
1. REPORT
1.1 Since this matter was discussed at your February meeting, Cllrs Tarrant and Flannery have given
detailed and lengthy consideration to the various documents forming part of and
supplementing the Hybrid Bill. The working summary of the detailed implications of the project
(both its construction phases and its final effects) that has resulted from that consideration has
been placed on the Council’s website.
1.2 The immediate requirements are for the following:
An objection to the scheme in principle to be sent to Esther McVey MP, in time for the
second reading of the Bill (which is where the principle of the scheme going ahead or
not will be decided).
Representations/objections in respect of the scheme’s Environmental Assessment,
which must be submitted by 31st March.
1.3 An oral report will be given as to how these requirements are to be achieved.
2. RECOMMENDATION
2.1 That the report be noted and Council make any relevant decisions.
2.2 That the working group comprising Cllrs Flannery and Tarrant, in association with the Chair and
Clerk, be delegated powers to submit representations on the HS2B project to the local MP, HS2B
Ltd (or its proxies), and Parliament.
