The Highways Agency has informed the Council that the planned full closure of the M6 junction 19 roundabout this weekend has been postponed. They had planned to close the junction from 9pm, Friday 17 September to 6am, Monday 20 September to resurface the carriageway. However, Covid-related delays in the supply chain mean that specialist, harder-wearing, high-traffic road surface material will not be delivered to the site in time.
They are looking to reschedule the work as soon as possible, with a potential part-weekend closure of the junction next weekend instead.
They are currently planning to close the M6 northbound exit slip road only this weekend, with a diversion to junction 20. This is so that they can build a new manhole.
