AGENDA ITEM 9.6 PROGRAMME OF COUNCIL MEETINGS 2023-24
1 REPORT OF CHAIR
1.1 At the May 2023 meeting a provisional programme of ordinary meetings for 2023-24 was agreed with a proviso that it would be reviewed at a later date. At the July 2023 meeting it was agreed that a new schedule would be put in place to elucidate if there would be more engagement if a different day of the week was selected for ordinary meetings.
1.2 The month of December is understood to be particularly busy for residents therefore it was suggested that council might want to consider moving that meeting forward by 1 week.
1.3 Currently not all meetings have a Councillors surgery starting at 7.00pm.
1.4 The new proposed dates are therefore proposed:
• 5th September – with Councillors’ Surgery at 7.00 p.m.
• 4th October – with Councillors’ Surgery at 7.00 p.m.
• 7th November – with Councillors’ Surgery at 7.00 p.m.
• 29th November – with Councillors’ Surgery at 7.00 p.m.
• No January 2024 meeting
• 6th February 2024 – with Councillors’ Surgery at 7.00 p.m.
• 6th March 2024 – with Councillors’ Surgery at 7.00 p.m.
• 2nd April – with Councillors’ Surgery at 7.00 p.m.
• 8th May 2024
2 RECOMMENDATIONS
2.1 That the programme of meetings be approved.
2.2 That attendance records are maintained to see if alternating the day of the meeting increases overall attendance at meetings and the number of people who attend one or more meetings.
2.3 That the majority of meetings have a councillors’ surgery prior to the main meeting,
