1 REPORT OF LAKE ISSUES WORKING GROUP
1.1 There has been significant erosion of the bank at the lake because of the sharp increase in people visiting the lake on Sunny days. If unchecked the bank will erode to the position of the current public footpath. The planting of tress and/or the positioning of rocks could reduce the advance of the erosion to the path.
1.2 There appear to be issues with the water run off pipes that flow into the lake. There is currently an unpleasant odour coming from the pipe which may indicate a break or blockage.
2 RECOMMENDATIONS
2.1 That council agree to rope off the area at the beach to reduce the rate of erosion while a permanent solution is worked out.
2.2 That council agree to obtain costs for placing trees and or rocks at the area of erosion to reduce the rate of soil loss.
2.3 That council contacts United Utilities to investigate the pipe odour and make repair if required.
