1st August 2023

AGENDA ITEM 9.9 REPORT OF COMMUNITY AND ASSET COMMITTEE RE PROPOSED SOCIAL EVENTS

1 REPORT OF COMMUNITY AND ASSET COMMITTEE

1.1 It is proposed that the Parish Council organise several social events, as follows:

1.2 Sunday 3rd September 2023, Pickmere Fun Day and Beer Festival. The event would include Childrens corner (Bouncy Castle), Arts and Crafts, Mini Disco (later in the afternoon), Food and Beer (area below Turton Pavilion), Beer tent, Food stalls, Opening up the Turton Pavilion to sell teas, coffees and soft drinks, Candy Floss and Oversized Games Section (Tin Can Alley, Dominoes, Connect 4, Skittles)

1.3 Friday 8th September 2023, Wildflowers & Wine, at the Village Hall. David Morgan has agreed to give a talk to residents on wildflower meadows in the village hall. David authored the book “The Secret Life of the Meadow”. Tickets to the event would include food and the intention is to also have a cash bar.

1.4 Sunday 10th December 2023, Christmas Market on the council-owned sites at Clover Drive/Park Lane. The Christmas Market is a well-loved event. This year the proposal would be to hold the event at the sites at the Park Lane/Clover Drive junction in order to have all the stalls in one area. In addition to residents’ stalls the plan would be to set up a grotto.

2 RECOMMENDATIONS

2.1 That council agrees to organise the events referred to, including the use of the Village Hall, Clover Drive sites and IROS/Pavilion as necessary.

2.2 That council allocates up to £1000 from a source to be identified to support the events payable on receipt of receipts.
