REPORT TO PICKMERE PARISH COUNCIL
3rd May 2022
AGENDA ITEM 10.2 PROGRESS RE LIAISON WITH CEC RE VISITOR PARKING ISSUES ETC
1. REPORT
1.1 At your April meeting, Council made several resolutions, one of which was to seek to liaise with
the CEC highways officer identified in the written response to your Council from CEC Cllr Craig
Browne about highways problems in the parish. As a result a discussion (by telephone) has
taken place with the officer, and it was agreed with him that:
 Your clerk will email CEC’s parking enforcement team to ask that they try again to attend
Pickmere lake area on summer weekends, to try to help deal with our visitor parking
issues.
 When the officer visits Pickmere he will inspect the faded yellow lines on Park Lane to
assess the need for their repainting.
 On the potential for possibly extending yellow lines in the village he was asked to note
CEC Cllr Browne’s comment in page 2 of his letter to the Parish Council that “various
locations are on the council’s list to be assessed…” and to check whether this is so; if not
or if so it was emphasised to the officer that the PC would greatly appreciate the
opportunity to have an initial meeting (in person or online), to talk through what kinds of
extension might be a possibility, so that if and when resourcing becomes available to
pursue such a scheme, both our councils have an idea as to what might be sensible to
put forward.
 On the condition of Hall Lane he was asked to check if resurfacing/major repairs appeared
anywhere in CEC’s work programme.
 Finally the offer was again made that a representative of the PC would be happy to meet
on-site in Pickmere to discuss the highway problem areas.
2. RECOMMENDATION
2.1 That the report be noted and members comment as desired.
Jack Steel
Clerk to the Parish Council
