AGENDA ITEM 7.2 BANK ACCOUNT SIGNATORIES
1 Report
1.1 With a substantially new Parish Council it is necessary to appoint signatories for the Council’s bank account. Council Standing Orders state that:
Cheques or orders for payment drawn on the bank account in accordance with the schedule as presented to council or committee shall normally be signed by two members of council, or if two are not available by a mandated councillor in conjunction with the Clerk.
1.2 In his recent report on the Council’s accounts (which should be considered by Council at this meeting), the Internal Auditor states that:
The council need to ensure when the new council membership is in place in May 2023 that a group of at least 4 councillors as signatories is established, with 2 councillors required to authorise online payments…
1.3 It is therefore recommended that 4 councillors be appointed as signatories for this purpose.
2 Recommendation
2.1 That Council appoints 4 of its members to act as bank signatories.
