AGENDA ITEM 9.6 REFURBISHMENT OF CLOVER DRIVE PLAY AREA
1. REPORT
1.1 The play area equipment at Clover Drive is in increasing need of urgent refurbishment or replacement, both for aesthetic reasons but also because as it ages it becomes more prone to physical deterioration, with the risk of the creation of hazards. The Council has earmarked some funds (£9000 including Community Infrastructure Levy element) to go toward the cost but significant other funds will have to be required to be able to finance a project that would make a significant difference to the quality and attractiveness of the area.
1.2 Various community survey exercises were carried out to generate ideas as to how the area might be redesigned but in the light of other issues that became more urgent and time-consuming the play area project has not proceeded as fast as would have been liked.
1.3 The outgoing Council appointed a working group of councillors to progress the scheme.
1.4 It is therefore appropriate for the incoming Council to consider how it would wish to proceed.
